The earth is always prone to be hit by Comets and Asteroids but big hits has been noticed in very rare cases.The last big hit was noticed almost 65 million years ago, which was the cause of extinction of Dinosaurs from this planet. Now a days, NASA astronomers performs Spaceguard Survey whose aim is to find all kinds of large near earth Astroids so that we can get enough information before they can pose threat to our extinction. A report from those works has cleared this fact that No any such Asteroids or Meteors are coming to the earth.So Nothing is predicted to hit the earth on December 21st,2012.
Is there anything to do with Polar shift theory?
Polar shift theory,as the name suggests is a theory which says that Earth’s crust does a 180-degree rotation around the core but NASA rejects it as they believe that it is impossible.However they believe that slow movements of continents are possible. The example for the same is Antarctica,which was near the equator several millions of years ago.I don’t know who is spreading this kind of fear among people.
